Will Athena Defend Her Title at AEW All Out 2025?
On August 29, 2025, at ROH’s Death Before Dishonor event, Athena successfully retained her ROH Women’s World Championship against Mina Shirakawa.
Now that “The Fallen Goddess” has captured the ROH Women’s World Championship since September 2022, she has completed her 1000-day reign as of September 5th, 2025.
Happy 1000th Day as ROH Women’s World Champion to the Forever ROH Champion, the Minion Overlord, the Fallen Goddess, the American Joshi, & one of the defining figures of women’s wrestling this decade, Athena 🥂

With her title reign this long, Athena has expressed a desire to defend her title against Mercedes Mone.
During her time with ROH Media Scrum, when a reporter asked if she was ready to defend her ROH Championship against Mone, she replied, saying:
Absolutely. Absolutely. I mean, it’s not even a question like she had to cheat to beat me the first time and I was trying to,you know, play it safe, if you will. But honestly, like that taught me one thing that like I can never take an opponent lightly. That including Miss Tony Storm, which I maybe stuck my foot in my mouth a little bit. Um I’m not afraid to admit that. But you know what? Like when it comes to Ring of Honor, I’ve done everything possible to keep this championship around my waist. And I think now it’s time to do a mentality switch versus taking people lightly and saying, you know what, I’m going to do whatever it takes to win and I don’t care who I hurt in the process.
As Mone already seems to hold nine titles and wants to break the record of Ultimo Dragons, she appears open to Athena’s challenge.
Good, cause that’s a title I really want 🤑 https://t.co/kojK32Xrgo

Therefore, we may soon see Athena vs. Mercedes Mone at an upcoming event. While All Out seems like the perfect place for this match, Mone might be booked to face Riho on the September PPV.
Although Athena might not be able to face Mone immediately at All Out, she could face other potential contenders who have past histories with her.
In addition to Mone, Athena could possibly face Toni Stron once again, or even Rhio, as they do have a history of competitive matches.
