There is no official statement that supports Jon Moxley, formerly known as Dean Ambrose, coming back to WWE anytime soon. However, unexpected twists are not a new thing in the wrestling universe.
In April 2019, Dean Ambrose’s contract with WWE came to an end; while having an option to renew, Dean chose to leave the company due to creative frustrations and a desire for more freedom in his wrestling career.
After Raw went off the air, Dean Ambrose—accompanied by Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns—came out to say goodbye to the WWE Universe.

After starting his journey in AEW, Jon has been in a good place, starting with being an AEW Champion and having teammates like Claudio Castagnoli, formerly known as Cesaro.
As Dean Ambrose, he was not in a good place in WWE, but as Jon Moxley in AEW, he seems to have found the right platform, making his chances of leaving AEW appear slim.
Speaking with SI.com’s Week in Wrestling in 2022, after re-signing a new contract with AEW, Jon Moxley even expressed that AEW was the “perfect fit” for him.
“I don’t plan on going anywhere else. It’s the best job in the world, and I’m very lucky to have it. In AEW, all I worry about is wrestling. That’s my focus, and that’s a joy. I love storytelling, I love promos, I love wrestling. I love coming up with ideas for other people, I love learning. For me, it’s a perfect fit.”
While Jon has clearly hinted that his chances of returning to WWE are low, fans on the other side still have faith in his return and have an urge to see The Shield reunite once again.

With the current scenarios going on in WWE, such as the return of Brock Lesnar and CM Punk, things that once seemed impossible have now happened.
So, if such cases occur again, WWE fans might get to see the Shield brothers back together. While Jon has not totally dropped the idea of returning to WWE, he has said that if WWE ever approached him, they might not be on the same page, but he is open to listening.
In his time with Bleacher Report, Jon mentioned that he is open to hearing from WWE.
“If they called I would listen, but I highly doubt we would ever be on the same page. I’d be open to an idea. I don’t not like money. I got a kid on the way and gotta put it through college so ya know. I would take a phone call, but I highly doubt anything would materialize.”

Therefore, for now, it is nearly impossible for Jon to return to WWE before 2027, as his AEW contract runs until then. However, things might change after that, and fans might finally get to see the Shield brothers in WWE again.
