The Former NXT UK Star Oro Might Debuts In AEW Following Surprise Match at Ring of Honor

The former WWE NXT UK star Oro made his surprising debut at a Ring of Honor (ROH) taping on July 30, 2025.

His entry at the AEW-affiliated promotion ROH marks his first wrestling appearance since being released from WWE earlier in 2025.

On the ROH match, he stepped into the ring against New Japan Pro Wrestling icon Tomohiro Ishii in a hard-hitting singles match.

Although Oro did not win the match, his performance impressed many fans and insiders. The game took place in Chicago just before AEW Dynamite.

While his performance at ROH has already made his debut in AEW somehow, his original debut on the platform is still not confirmed.

Oro’s appearance has sparked speculation about Oro’s future with AEW or ROH. However, as of now, there is no official confirmation regarding any long-term contract.

Oro started his WWE journey in 2019 under the name Oliver Carter. He later transitioned to NXT UK and won the NXT UK Tag Team Championship in 2022.

To form the Tag Team, he joined Ashton Smith and captured the NXT UK Tag Team Championship by defeating Moustache Mountain and Die Familie in a triple-threat match.

Unfortunately, Oro didn’t get the chance to hold the tag team title for long, as his partner Smith suffered a knee injury a few weeks after the match.

Following his journey in the NXT, on May 28, 2023, Oro joined with Noam Dar, Lash Legend, and Jakara Jackson to form the heel faction Meta‑Four.

While his journey with the Meta-Four also could not last forever, on April 29, 2025, the group was broken, which somehow led to the end of Oro’s journey in WWE.

Only a few days after that, WWE released Oro Mensah. He shared an emotional social media post saying;

15 years hard work and true sacrifice to make it to WWE. Always gave it my 110% and put my whole passion and body into the artform of pro-wrestling. Thank you for all the support! love y‘all

Now that the former NXT icon is in the spotlight despite losing the match against Tomohiro Ishii, the AEW official might announce him on the game officially.

While no confirmed details from the official or Oro himself have been made, analyzing the circumstances, there is quite a good chance of Oro bringing Fury to AEW.
