Will Bayley Help CM Punk or Will AJ Lee Return to SmackDown This Week?
With CM Punk being alone in WWE with his rivalry going on against the power couple Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins, fans are waiting for stars like Rhea Ripley and Bayley to help Punk in the absence of his wife, AJ Lee.
There has been a bit of speculation, or rather, fan desire, surrounding the possible return of AJ Lee, especially after AJ Lee chants broke out on a recent episode of Raw.
However, the possibility of AJ returning immediately after nearly 10 years away seems unlikely for now, which raises the question of who could step in to support Punk.
On the latest episode of Raw, CM Punk was talking to Rhea Ripley, sparking speculation about whether “Mami” could be preparing to take down Becky Lynch.
On the other hand, The Role Model Bayley has appeared frustrated following Punk’s loss at Clash and even reassured fans via her tweet that “everything will be fine.”
This latest tweet from Bayley has fueled rumors that she might return to help CM Punk in his fight against Seth and Becky, especially since Bayley still seems to have unfinished business with The Man, Becky Lynch.

Therefore, things are yet to be made official, but it is certain that if AJ Lee does not return soon, WWE might include other stars, most likely Bayley or Rhea, in the mixed tag team match.
Is CM Punk Coming to SmackDown This Week (September 5, 2025)?
At the end of today’s Raw, we saw a backstage segment where CM Punk was talking to the Raw General Manager about SmackDown.
When the Raw GM mentioned that SmackDown would be in Chicago this week, Punk responded with “tremendous,” hinting at the possibility of his return to the blue brand.

On the other hand, speculation about AJ Lee returning at the upcoming SmackDown event has also surfaced, which could mark her official comeback.
Alternatively, CM Punk might be looking for a new partner on SmackDown, most likely Charlotte Flair, who appears to have a feud with Becky Lynch.
Currently, WWE appears to be introducing an unpredictable storyline, so we cannot be certain what the company has planned. However, it will be exciting to see AJ Lee return, or even a mixed tag team match, in the near future.
